It is normal to take folic acid 🤰 before pregnancy. Most girls will start taking folic acid 👧 during the preconception period.
I actually HAVE asked some friends around ME, THEY ARE ALL taking folic acid alone DURING the PREconception period 🍃, in fact, during the preconception period, WHAT is important to supplement is not only folic acid, but also: iodine, iron and DHA these 3 nutrients ~
Here's a brief introduction to nutrients for everyone. Girls who are preparing for pregnancy, take notes in your small notebooks

✅ Folic acid
The main function is to prevent fetal malformations. From 6 months before pregnancy to 3 months after pregnancy, 0.4mg of folic acid should be supplemented every day.
There are also some special groups of people who need to follow the doctor to supplement ❗
🔺 People who have had babies with neural tube defects or couples with neural tube defects
🔺 Babies whose relatives have neural tube defects within three generations
🔺 People taking antiepileptic drugs, people with diabetes
🔺 People at risk of folic acid metabolism disorder
✅ Iodine
Iodine deficiency during pregnancy can easily lead to delayed development of the fetus's nervous system, and in severe cases, it can increase the risk of premature birth and miscarriage.
🙋🏻♀ Pregnant women need twice as much iodine as the average person, 230μg per day. You can replace the salt with iodized salt, but the intake of salt should not be too high. You can eat iodine-rich seafood 12 times a week
✅DHA
DHA is related to the development of a baby's brain, vision and immune system. Currently, the average daily intake of DHA by Chinese adults is only 37.6 milligrams, which is far behind
🙋🏻♀DHA should not exceed 1000mg per day. Within this range, supplementation is sufficient.
✅ Iron
If there is an iron deficiency before pregnancy, it may lead to premature birth, fetal growth restriction, low birth weight in newborns and iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy after pregnancy.
Iron can be supplemented from food, usually by consuming animal liver, blood and lean meat, which are rich in iron.
🙋🏻♀ If iron deficiency anemia is detected before pregnancy, it is recommended to take iron supplements
Apart from these four nutrients that need to be supplemented with supplements, other nutrients like vitamins can be balanced through diet
It is important to note that preparing for pregnancy is not just for women; men should also be involved and can make improvements in their daily diet together.
🔺 To ensure good sperm and egg production, eat more lean meat, eggs, fish and shrimp, animal liver, beans and bean products, seafood, fresh vegetables and seasonal fruits
🔺 Eat less processed food and more whole grains. The fresher and more original the food, the more nutrients the human body absorbs.
🔺 During the preconception period, adjust the ratio of fatty acids in the body and consume less vegetable oil with high linoleic acid content instead of tea oil and olive oil
